    Our lithops keeps splitting, but the outer leaves do not fade away or fizzle as expected. It just keeps growing new heads!

      Normally that happens if plants are watered during regeneration. I am not sure where you are but I have heard of problems in humid climates. Are you in the northern hemisphere.
