CONOPHYTUM HERMARIUM

  1. These look excellent. I have one Cono, Conophytum Minimum wittebergense RR714 which still has not opened from the old shell. When should this ordinarily happen?

    1. Mine is just starting into growth. The very hot Summer seems to have delayed the plants.

  2. Thank you. Fingers crossed then. I thought I had killed mine so hopefully, like yours, it will start to burst open soon. I assume you're watering yours on a weekly basis?

  3. I am watering. The new heads are now through on mine. Good luck with yours.

  4. Alas, I think I have killed mine. Not sure what I did wrong, but it looks very far from opening. I think perhaps it may have overheated in the summer. Really annoying as it cost me a small fortune! Back to the drawing board.

    1. Sorry to hear that. Where I live it was a very hot Summer which made live difficult for Conophytums. I moved mine under the greenhouse staging. Try with a cheaper Cono next time?

  5. Will do. Have you ever tried growing these from seed? I had my fist attempt this year and got nothing. I grow a lot of cacti from seed and this was the first time I lucked out with this genus.

  6. I have tried Conophytums from seed but without much success although OK with Lithops.
